Maps
Maps give you a spatial view of your cameras on a floor plan or site image. Maps are available to admins and operators; viewers do not see the Maps section.
Create a map
Section titled “Create a map”On the Maps page create a map and upload a background image (floor plan, site photo, or diagram).
Place cameras
Section titled “Place cameras”In the map editor, drop camera markers onto the background and position them. For each marker you can set a field-of-view cone — its direction, angle, and range — so the map reflects what each camera actually covers.
Use a map
Section titled “Use a map”From a saved map, click any camera marker to open it live. Maps are a fast way to find the right camera by location instead of by name.
Typical workflow
Section titled “Typical workflow”- Create the map and upload the floor plan.
- Drop a marker for each camera and set its field-of-view cone.
- In Live View, choose the map as the Source to watch its cameras together.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”Floor-plan images are stored on the Vision host, by default in /var/lib/vision/maps (maps_background_path). vision backup includes them unless you pass --no-maps, so a restore keeps the backgrounds.
